Every year I have my young artist, create a self portrait. I love beginning the lesson with the poem Me I Am by Jack Prelutsky. Then I show several of Frida Kahlo’s realistic self portraits. Next we explore our 5 senses as we draw, trace, and finally paint our own self portrait.
