Can you believe we are already thinking of Summer? It’s the end of February and since we had such a mild winter, I feel like it should be November! I am offering 3 different types of camps again this year. To sign up for a camp, please call 910-399-1708 or email minimonets@gmail.com. Camp locations will all be at Cape Fear Academy so I can enjoy a few weeks with my boys. Tuition will include all materials, supplies, displays, and a snack.
Mini Monets: Fine Artists Camp Session 1
Week of June 18 – June 22.
For ages 3 – 8
Cape Fear Academy: 1:00 – 3:00 pm, $160
Art projects will be in 2 and 3 dimension. We will be exploring dry media (conte, pastels, charcoal), wet media (watercolors, tempera) and sculpture in modeling clay, air dry clay, and paper mache. This camp is perfect for young artists who are looking to explore new mediums and nurture their creativity through guided and self-directed projects. Students will use their imagination and artistic talents to create individual pieces of art. Just as during the school year, projects will be a blend of the visual arts with literature, math, and science.
Mini Monets: Clay and Sculpture
Week of June 25 – June 29.
For ages 3 – 8
Cape Fear Academy: 1:00 – 3:00 pm, $175
An art camp focusing on all things 3 dimensional. We will work with several different types of clay, paper mache, and sculpting wire to create unique pieces of pottery and sculpture. We will learn about the history of pottery in different cultures and explore sculpting techniques while having a great time getting messy! Students will use their imagination and artistic talents to create individual pieces of art. Just as during the school year, projects will be a blend of the visual arts with literature, math, and science.
Mini Monets: Illustration Class
Week of July 24 – July 28.
For ages 8 – 14
Cape Fear Academy: 10:00 – 12:00 pm, $160
If you find yourself constantly doodling far off places and creating exciting new super heroes, this is the camp for you. This camp will introduce the foundations for character design, layout, story boards, and illustration. These projects are designed to take you to the next level as an illustrator, preparing you for a career in illustration, comic books or graphic novels, and video game design.
Mini Monets: Fine Artists Camp Session 2
Week of July 24 – July 28.
For ages 5 – 12
N. College: 1:00 – 3:00 pm, $145
A whole new art adventure from Session 1.

I am interested in the summer camp at Surf City. I see that the cost is $60. Is this for 1 week? I am also interested in possibly doing a camp at the clubhouse in our neighborhood, if you can provide what the cost for that would be and how many children you would need to participate.
thanks!

Are the three sessions of Summer Camp in Surf City identical in content? or is each session learning something new?

Hi Deed,
Each session/month will be a different set of projects and we will learn about different artists. Nothing will be repeated and children can attend each session.
Thanks!

Thank you!
How do we register for the classes?
Also, I am trying to decide between the July and August classes, Can you tell me more about those specific classes and their content?
I will email you the registration form. Each month, I will have a different set of projects for the kids to create. Some will be teacher guided and some are self directed. I introduce different artists but I do not have specific themes for the months. For the younger classes, we will have projects in watercolors, mixed media, tempera, and clay. The older classes focus on how art will translate into careers in an art field. We will look at successful graphic design elements, effective character design, layout and animation.

Hello, I am confused by the dates for summer camp. Is it only for an hour? Do you have a day or half day program?
Thanks,
Heather Brosnan

Hello Heather,
Yes, the camps are an hr long this year. My school year classes run 30 – 45 minutes so I’m trying something new with having art projects that last an hour. Depending how this year goes, next year I may offer 1.5 – 2 hr classes daily. Please email me if you are interested in signing up for Cape Fear Academy, Carolina Beach, or Ogden. Thanks for your interest in Mini Monets Summer Camp.
