Gustav Klimt Tree of Life

For our first project of the year, we read the book Klimt and a his Cat to introduce our artists to Klimt’s beautifully detailed works of art. We discussed how his Tree of Life was one of the few landscapes that he created and how he was inspired by Roman mosaics to create repeating intricate geometric shapes. After painting our own trees, we incorporated repeating geometric shapes in gold and glittery paint to create the gold leaf look of Klimt’s paintings. For science, we reviewed the  life cycle and  parts of trees. Check out more about Klimt at https://www.artsy.net/artist/gustav-klimt
