“Creative Sea Creatures” will be displayed in our art galleries starting tomorrow. We read the book I’m the Biggest Thing in the Ocean where we saw all different types of life in the sea. (If you have never read it, it’s a very cute book with a great ending!) We then drew real sea creatures or made them up from our imagination. Before painting our pictures with watercolors, we looked at the art of Norval Morriseau and his use of lines, shapes, and colors within his animal paintings. This was the inspiration for how the students chose to finish their masterpieces. The objective for this lesson was to identify the lines, colors, and shapes in works of art and explain personal art in terms of media and process. How did your child make their creatures personal? A certain color? A type of fish? Long or short lines?
New projects start tomorrow!
